Personnel representative

The personnel representative is a person chosen from among the company's employees, who acts in the workplace as a shop steward, occupational health and safety representative or their deputy. Some of the personnel representatives can perform several tasks at the same time.​​​​​​​

The shop steward is an expert and oversees your interests at the workplace. The occupational health and safety representative, on the other hand, supervises the implementation of the occupational health and safety law. If they belong to union, they are entitled to free trainings.

In a workplace where at least 10 employees work regularly, the employees must choose an occupational health and safety representative from among themselves.

Employees must elect 1 occupational health and safety commissioner and 2 deputy commissioners from among themselves for two calendar years at a time to represent them in occupational health and safety cooperation and in relation to occupational health and safety authorities.

The reason of electing occupational health and safety representative minimum reason is purely because it is defined by the law if there are over 10 employees. The personnel representative represents and helps the employees of the workplace in matters and problems related to the employment relationship. Representative acts as a negotiator and conciliator between the employees and the employer.
